stupid leaf spring question

I've got a RE lift for my XJ and getting ready to install it in a few days..wanted to clear something up..Never played with leaf springs. The leaf on each end is a differnt size roll??

I just need to know what end does the larger side of the leaf go into? the shackle or frame mount?

Thanks

oh, also noticed that the new center pins for my shims have these metal sleaves..what are they all about and where do they go? nut side? or end of the bolt?

As far as I know the "eyes" on the leaf pack are the same on each side... at least it is with leaf sprung wranglers.

When you pull your old ones, you'll see which way they go. If you put them on backwards, your wheel base wont be the same. Look at the eyes when you take the old ones off, you'll be able to figure it out. The shims go between the axle and spring and the center pin goes with the nut on top of the pack and head on the bottom to sit in the shim/axle

THe eye which is the shortest distance from the center pin goes toward the rear of an XJ if I recall correctly.

Either way, it will be blatently obvious of they are backwards, as the center pin will be nowhere near the axle mount.

Wow, getting some mixed advice I see...

The springs will only go on one way, if i remember correctly the larger eye goes to the front, and the smaller one fits in the shackle. I don't think the larger eye will fit in the shackle.

The sleeve sounds like something that would be used if you use a shim to angle the axle. The existing bolt end is not long enough to hold through the shim and into the axle. I had to make my own..

Good luck getting the bolts out, I had to torch mine off..

Larger eye is on the frame hanger end, smaller eye is the shackle end.

YJ springs have different size spring eyes, and mount in the same fashion.

alright..this all helps..just wanted to get the shims on before i went out and started the lift to save some time. thanks!
