Strange Oil Spill

My 90 YJ has always had an oil pressure issue. I recently replaced the pressure switch and my guage was still going wacko. I just figured that the guage was probably bad. Yesterday she decided to spill half a quart of oil in my garage and the source looks to be the switch? I unscrewed it and screwed it back in and drove it for a while. It didn't spill this time but it had a few drops. It almost looks as if the oil was spraying out from somehwere. I am confused on how oil is getting on top of the switch. The dipstick neck is only other thing I can think of. How would that happen?

On my 88 YJ I've had oil come from the grommet by the firewall thats on the valvecover. i dont know if yours will have the same.

I have had that problem before and that is fixed. Could the oil pump be screwed up? It reads a different pressure everytime I start it and it doesn't move during operation. I rewired and replaced the sensor and it didn't help. Maybe the guage is bad??? Still doesn't explain the spill.

I would suspect the pressure sending unit (switch). When my wife's went bad on her YJ, I was truly amazed at how much oil that little sucker can spew! Perhaps there's a pinhole in the bladder inside it (that's how it senses the pressure). If it were me, I'd swap it out and see if that helps (and, hopefully, you can get a refund for that one).

My 88 jy likes to spew out the dip stick? whats up with that? ITs not a lot but like slowly seeps out but its bothering me b/c i hate oil leaks. And this isent as bad as my other one i had when the rear main seal went out. Any ideas?

Vent for crankcase plugged? You should have either a pcv, ccv, or something along those lines.

I'm with Mud. Change the sending unit. I'm all for fixing the cheap thing first when there is uncertainty, and it seems to be a likely culprit with the guage acting up.
