Hey guys new member here needs your thoughts on a noise my 83 cj started making. I have the 258 eng with the t-5 transmission. The noise is a loud squealing/grinding sound coming from the bell housing area. It doesn't matter if the clutch is engaged or disengaged in gear or out of gear, rolling or sitting still, it still makes the same noise. My first thought was either the release bearing or the pilot bearing. I replaced both and it still does it. There is no vibration and the more I pay attention to it the more I have noticed it only does it when I rev the motor or when I accelerate. Basically when the motor torques. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated. [addsig]
