Stock TJ Performance Upgrade...?

What is the best way to improve ride/handling/overall performance in a stock TJ on 31's that will see mostly pavement? Better springs? Shocks? Steering Stabilizer? Tires? All of the above? And which ones are best in your opinion? THANKS

For a road ride stock is pretty darn good. I would just open up the air ways and let it breath a bit both in and out for the added mileage and preformance. tug

Intake and exhaust modifications, more pep and increased fuel economy. What engine/transmission combo do you have? Tell us some more about your jeep.

OK, well what kind of intake/exhaust mods would you recommend? I dont have it yet, but I'll be getting an '04 X in about 2 weeks, 4.0L I6 !

Flowmaster and a K&N intake will make for a great start. If you live in an area with emmisions check inspections get a more flowing cat and if no inspections loose the cat all together. tug

You should be able to cut the end of the intake tube and slap a conical K&N filter right on there, cost about $35 for the filter. Get a cat-back exhaust system, the '04 converter probably doesn't restrict much worth worrying about.
Check out www.rustysoffroad.com for a cat-back Flowmaster exhaust.

I found that with new shocks your road ride is much better. I had a noticable difference when I got rid of the Stock crap.

or... buy the tj... and an old cj as well... when the tj feels it doesn't handle right, or is not smooth enough... get in the cj.... you'll SWEAR that the tj just got 30 times better
