Only getting 13 gallons out of 15 gallon tank

Hi, will my stock fuel pump work on the 350 swap (carburated)? What will I do with the return line that goes back to the tank??? I am guessing I will need a pressure regulator and pressure gauge?

It should keep up, being a carbed engine. A lot depends on the carb size and how built (thirsty) the motor is.

I used the 350's mechanical fuel pump when I swapped a 350 into my '88 YJ.

You'll want to keep the fuel return lines intact, along with the charcoal canister if equipped.

thanks for the reply, but where will the return line run to on the carb? The canister still needs to be hooked up? When I run the pressure regulator, will that over time hurt the fuel pump in the tank (with so much pressure being blocked off). Stock fuel pressure is in the 30's. Isn't a carb supposed to have 7 psi. Another thing is the gallons per. Will I be alright with that? Sorry about all the wuestions. I just want to do it right the first time. Thank you... Byan

The stock FI uses a different flow rate and it doesn't bother the pump, so I don't know why a pressure regulator would.

I'm not a pro on this, just a little experience. Keep in mind when I did it on my '88 it had no internal pump and I was going from a carbed 258 to the carbed 350.

That return line is probably for emissions purposes, which must not be a concern since you're going to a carbed engine. Which brings to mind the question, why going backwards with technology with the carb?

What about emissions? Any testing in your area?

I didn't have to worry about emissions when I did this swap, until I went to sell the jeep and some potential buyers could not purchase it because they lived in an area with testing. Something to consider if you haven't already.

Where are you located, and can I have dibs on your transmission if it's a 5speed?

No, luckily enough I dont have to worry about testing in Louisiana. Yeah if you want the 5 speed I can sell it to you, but it will be in a few months. Oh yeah, I dont want to have to worry about stupid computers anymore. That is why I want carbed.
