Well I have been hunting for a Yj for a while now. Saw some nice prospects but haven't found "the one".
Ran into the guy I sold my '88 Yj to this weekend. He had the head rebuilt, fixed the rear main seal, and replaced the radiatior, among other minor items.
I asked him if he'd mind me taking it around the block, and being the good Jeeper that he is, he graciously let me. I was shocked how smooth it ran. It was not a good idea for me to drive it because now I am considering buying it back.
Here's the scenario...
bought it for $500, put less than $50 into it.
sold it for $1500 with the stock tires & wheels from my XJ
He wants $2500.
It would fly through inspection and is emmissions exempt here in PA.
Should I do it? Yeah, I know I said I wanted a '91 but this Yj is absolutely rust-free. I mean not so much as a spot. I'm thinking after making $1000 off of it before then I would actually only have $1500 in it (I know, it's kind of irrelevant and It will actually cost me $2500).
I dunno, $2500 for a clean, rust-free YJ... the only thing I would think it could need is a carb. I have a Motorcraft 2100 with adapter plate in my garage.
I told him I'd have to wait until April 25th when I close on selling my old house to buy it (actually to buy me some time to mull it over).
Whattya all think? I should swing by there to snap a pic to post, huh?
