Spring interchange

My Cj rides rough. I have stock springs (i think) that I put on after I got rid of the 4 inch lift. I was told Wrangler springs will give a better ride. Any ideas on this?

sorry for the downtime

Yeah, it will ride a little bit better with the wider YJ springs under the front. The YJ front springs are a 1/2" wider than the CJs front springs, so they don't have to be quite so stiff. There are kits available to make the swap, but you can do it yourself.

Let me throw in my measly 2 cents here.....It does make a difference, but throwing YJ springs under an otherwise unchanged CJ doesn't really make that much of a difference. It's one thing if you are swapping in axles that have perches for 2.5" springs-----it would only make sense, but I'm not sure I'd go through the trouble on a factory setup.

RE: sorry for the downtime

The more wore out and sagging the springs the better the ride. Just not much good for anything else! tug

RE: leather grab bar

Yea, my buddy has an 82 CJ that has been up at the cabin for most of it's life and the thing rides great. Any other ideas?

Another way you could go are Old Man Emu springs. My brother had them on his YJ and it was the smoothest riding jeep I was ever in. The only thing is that they are a little pricey, more than the average spring lift. I think they come in 1.5" and 2.5".

I'll second that. A friend/co-worker/carpool buddy had OME on his YJ and it was one sweet riding leaf sprung Jeep.
