soundbar question

for those of you with soundbars. did you install it in front of the center hoop on the roll bar or behind? just curious because i was thinking if you put it in front then a bikini top would protect it from rain. or do you just let it rain on the soundbar?

Hi,

I installed mine behind the center beam. Mine has 6x9" speakers in it and I didn't want them directly over my head. I'm not too concerned about it getting wet since it is wrapped in neoprene and the speakers don't have paper cones.

I would put it behind the roll bar as I tried in front and it was all to close to my head. As I was hitting puddles in the woods I was also banging my head on the speakers. If you put in high quality speakers made out of that poly stuff you won't have to woory about a occasional wetting.

i had a cab top on mine for over 2 yrs and my sound bar was out in the weather the whole time and i never had any problems

no go behind the hoop.....i tried today and the soundbar was too long to fit on the rear section. i had to put it over my head.

definitely put it behind... it'll be a pain in your ass if it's in front of the bar... and even if it is in front chances are it'll still get rained on a few times when you forget to put up the top or when the weatherman is wrong...

Depends! TJ's had them behind the center bar factory (03+ are just pods and not sound "bars") while YJ's have them before the center bar if it is a factory. I perfer the set up in my YJ to the TJ cause of the proximity of the speakers, but this does not allow for easy fold down of the windshield. all YJ's 92+ have the mounting holes under the padding!
