skid plate replacement

There's a factory skid plate on the driver's side next to the gas tank, it protects the fuel filter or pump (which one is it?). Mine's rusted out pretty bad and I need to replace it. Looks pretty easy to do, but anybody know a good place to find one (besides the stealership)?

junkyard, or your neighbor's jeep...

That thing "protects" your fuel filter. But dude, if you're having issues of getting rocks way up there, then you need to look into a full under-carriage skid, anyways.

Try to fab something up or get a mom & pop shop to do it. Most machine shops have a welder, a torch, and scrap metal to do it right. Get the dimensions and take it to them with a $20 and a dozen donuts... you'll be set by the end of the day.

Is the current skid welded to the frame? I'd just have somebody weld up a few pieces of steel, one flat skid and two gussets, and have it welded to the frame. You can probably do all the grinding prep work yourself.
