serios ignition problem need help fast!!!

i have to bypass my ignition, the tumbler is finished, i wanted to run it through the auxillery lighting ( for the power) and the rear defrost button (for the starter) since neither of them are hooked up. i found what looked like the power source to the steering column, red, orange and 2 smaller black wires so i cut them and connected them but nothing happened. i have to have this figured out by tommorow morning so i can get to work, any help would be greatfully appreciated

Who says you can't pimp a 'wheeler?

If what you're trying to do is bypass the starter switch in then all you have to do is run constant power through one of the switches to the small wire on the starter solinoid. The ignition could be bypassed the same way, but you're going to want to make sure you can still get the steering wheel unlocked.

Make sure to use a fuse between the battery and the switch.

i have an 87 yj 4.2, the only thing i need to know now is what colour wires run to the ignition for the power source......luckily it rained today so i didnt have to go into work...THANK GOD!
