My yj 5 speed manual transmission is a little Hard too shift into 2nd gear. It feels like it is slightly hitting or rubbing into some moving piece of metal when i try to put it in second gear . It will go into second but i feel a light grind a lot
Especially when its cold and its not warmed up yet. All other manual shifts in other gears are fine. Any idea what is going on? Thanks

I unfortunatly can't help but to beat the rush...you could have one of three transmisions..ba10/5 behind the 4.2l 6cyl, ax-5 behind the 2.5l 4cyl, or ax-15 behind the 4.0l 6cyl. So you'll need to post the year and engine type as well.

If your sure that your pushing the clutch pedal down far enough to completly disingage the clutch when you shift to second gear then i would say that the second gear syncronizer in the transmision may be worn. Have you checked the fluid in the clutch resevour?

Clutch is def all the way down. Clutch fluid is full 89 4.2 engine

Sounds like you have one of the worst transmissions ever put in a jeep the BA10/5.

First thing I replaced on my YJ after I bought it was the trans. Dumped a NV3550 into it. I still have the old one that worked and shifted fine if you are looking for parts.
