Does all of the other "switch on" items still work such as your heater blower, Stereo, gauges, ect.... or does everything but the motor die when you turn off the key? If you still have electric items working, it may be your switch is bad! Tug[addsig]

ghee, it must be something in the water. i posted the same problem on saturday for a friend. i was told to check the starter switch on the firewall. something is not allowing the current to shut off to kill the engine. might be worth a look. :-? [addsig]

No the only thing that happens is all the gauges shut off but the engine sputters like it still wants to run.. :-? [addsig]

It started as a small sputter and is getting stronger and stronger. One day it might drive itself away  :-? [addsig]

technically its called dieseling or run-on caused by deposits in the engine that are glowing "hot" and being fueled by a carb that is still providing air & gas to be ignited. usually a combo of: excessive carbon buildup on the pistons; a high idle speed adjustment; or some cars have a "anti dieseling solenoid", that prevents the butterflys in your carb from remaining open by effectively slamming them shut when you turn the motor off.
Hope this helps in some way! -JP[addsig]

Check your choke cam idle screw. Usually you set this when your vehicle is cold by pressing onthe gas. Sometimes this will stick. Mine does it about once a week. I just pump the gas quickly and it quits.[addsig]
