I got my 2000 TJ sahara last October and I've been dying to modify it. I got magazines and read alot online , but I'm afraid of making any changes that would ruin my jeeps performance. If anyone can give me any kind of advice on what I'm about to say then plz do: I wanna get a 4" pro comp lift, 35" tires, and new flares. it seems alot of proffessionals change a couple of things in the engine and the gears to make that happen, but I'm not looking for any serious offroad machine here, just a daily driver that looks vicious enough. thanks

The Jeep engineers have worked hard and long to develop the current Wrangler suspension.

This suspension gives excellent articulation on trails as well as probably the smoothest on road ride on the planet.

I doubt there is another suspension system which can do as good.

All lift kits achieve their lift the same way.
They use stiffer springs so the Jeep rifdes higher on these springs.

I long grown tired of hearing Jeep owners install a lift kit and later belly-ache that it now rides hard.

Ya Think ?!

So,
The best plan is to leave the factory suspension as is and install a body lift only.
You shouldn't need any more than a 2 or 3 inch lift to be able to fit 32's or 33's under your Wrangler.

I run a 3" Racho lift and yes it does ride hard as all old leaf spring Jeeps did.
On the back I have a swingaway tire rack which holds 2 jerry cans between the tire & the tailgate.

Up front, I have a ramsey i9000 winch and a rusty old logging chain wrapped around the bumper and sagging dangerously close to the ground.

A big cow bell hangs from a short piece of big cahin from under the radiator area which is set to alert me to high rocks when off road.

along each side I have 3" diameter black nerf bars topped with a aluminum diamond plate as a stepping tread. The bar works well to keep the body off boulders.

That5's what works for me

ur gonna be crusing a pavement pounder....
if u wanna keepthe ride .. do a 3 inch body life.. that should allow u to run 33;s o 34's
only thing ur gonna do with a 4 inch lift and 35's is throw away good money.. save ur money 3 inch body lift maybe 100 bucks.. set of 33.. (5 tires ) thornbirds.. ( street machine.. tire) around a grand..

If it were up to me, I would spend the money and buy a real lift kit. I have owned a TJ with a Rubicon Express 4" on it and I loved it. The ride was actually so close to stock I would forget that it was lifted. I'm personally not a big fan of body lifts due to the fact they are raising the body off the frame-something the factory NEVER planned for. As for tires-go with a tire within your price range. Stay away from your more aggressive tires unless you want to be replacing them regularly. I really like the Goodyear MTRs' for wear and looks.
