Reverse light problem

Need some help with my 1998 Cherokee Sport
4 liter, automatic, 4WD
My reverse lights are intermittent. Put it in reverse and the lights work fine--then they don't--then they do--and don't etc.
I know there must be a switch somewhere.
Does anyone know where to look first??

It might be just an adjustment on the switch on the passenger side of the transmission. It also controlls the neutral safety switch so be careful to get it adjusted right if you do the work yourself.

Thank you for the information Steady Foot. Was working under the jeep yesterday and know where that switch is. Gotta get started. NDININ
