I recently acquired a 1986 Cherokee and would like to replace the cracked drivers side exhaust manifold. The prior owner had gotten one from the junk yard but had not replaced it yet. I have been reading on the best approach but am having difficulty finding the right torque pressures to be using when tightening down the bolts.
My plan is to soak the engine block bolts with a good penetrating oil(Blaster) for a couple days before I go after the nuts. After the old mani' is off, I will clean the contact surfaces and put anti-seize goop on the bolt threads. Then I will cover the contact surfaces with a layer of Super Copper gasket maker and install the replacement mani'. It has been suggested that the center bolts need to be tightened first in a pattern like center-rear-front, ending with a torque pressure of 25#R-30#C-25#F. However, I don't know if these are the correct pressures for my V6 2.8L (713 CI) engine.
Your advice would be appreciated,
