does ANYONE have ANYTHING that might make this a little easier? Maybe I'm going about it the wrong way and thats why it seems so complicated, but either way I'm lost and could use a bit of guidance if anyone has any

oh and its a 69 grand cherokee limited with the 5.2l if that helps

69? LOL Easiest is often removing the transmission crossmember and lowering the transmission slightly in order to get a socket on the bolts. It often takes long extensions and maybe a wobble adapter on the socket.

I meant 96... and I'd like to throw this out there for anyone else who has to do this, there's NO need to drop the transmission, NO need for 5 feet of extensions... I found a way to do this job in 20 minutes top... first, remove the heat shield from the passenger exhaust manifold, all you need is a 1/2" wrench... next, you will need a 2" wobble extension, a 6" wobble extension, and a 6mm allen head socket. Take out the two bolts, one will be right under the ground strap, then just follow that mount up an inch or two to find the top one. Remove the sensor from rubber piece, follow the wires around to disconnect, connect the new one, and reverse process.

As long as this isn't the first time you've ever worked on a vehicle, shouldn't take no time at all.
