I searched the forum but missed anything about replacing the front driveshaft on older XJ's. A friend at work wants to buy a 84 XJ that makes noise in 4wd. I had the same problem in high school and traced it to that "soup can" joint at the transfer case side of the front driveshaft. I just got rid of it, never fixed it. Every internet search I do on this describes the same problem and says to replace the shaft but nobody lists a source for one. Is there a bolt-in solution or is this a difficult repair (replacing t-case parts, ext)?
