renegade package??

Can someone tell me what is included in the renegade package. or what does it mean to have a renegade vs nothing, or unlimited, or laredo? Is having renegade written on the side anything special? Worth a little more? say a 85 or 86 CJ-7.

After 1975, the Renegade package was pretty much a set of stickers. Each package had slightly different trim of some sort or another, but nothing sinificant until you get to the Laredo.....but it was pretty much just some fake leather padding on stuff and different stickers.

How true......

The CJ renegade package had rocker trim (don't call them guards as they are too flimsy to protect anything), sport steering wheel (3 metal spokes), white or chrome spoke wheels with center caps, underdash lights, and the stickers. I think fold and tumble rear seat, intermittant wipers, and carpet, but not sure on those... Nothing to add to performance, just a bunch of little stuff.

Well I just bought that 86 CJ-7 Renegade. Looked at it yesterday and looks awesome, rides great, straight 6, 4x4, great shape. $6200.00. 118,000 miles.

Seemed like a lot of money but I could tell the previous owner has done a great job of upkeep. (no after market upgrades, just maintenance and paint, and top). The inside is in great shape and seats aren't even torn yet(but about too).

Can someone tell me what will need replacing in the future? Right now it's perfect except for the steering has play in it, which I can live with.

Check the tie rod ends, drag link and steering box. You may need to adjust the screw on the top of the steering box. Back the jam nut off then turn the allen screw down. Don't tighten it just get it a little snug. See if that helps your loose steering.
