damn so today went into the local jeep dealer to see if they could seal up my transmission...so i go\et a call dude come down we gotta talk(i was thinkin they wrecked my jeep)get down john my good buddy from the stealership goes...you need to rebuild your transmission its slippin when you shift from 1-2...so now im getting my transmission rebuilt...what should i have done?shift kit...what should i get done performance wise...

first of all... NEVER listen to a dealer... go take it to another shop and have the transmission flushed... THEN see if you are still slipping... and if it is... ask an independent shop what to do about it

Yeah, don't let them do it! I'd flush and fill with Redline or Synchromesh before I let them do it. Try the most inexpensive things first. Then, if those fail, get it rebuilt... by a transmission shop, not the dealer... unless it's under warranty! sheeesh.

in an auto transmission... i don't know how the redline oil is... but synchromesh is still recommended for SOME autos, most GM auto transmission, but i'm not sure on others... some garages will do a complete flush and fill for about 50 or 60 bucks

IT BE CHEAPER IF U JUSS BUT A JASPER TRANS AND DO IT URSELF, MY TRANSMISSION WENT AND I BOUGHT ONE FOR 980 AND HAD IT IN THE NEXT DAY TOOK ABOUT 5 HRS TO DO, AND NO I DIDNT DO IT IN A SHOP I DID IT ON THE FLOOR IN MY DRIVE WAY, NO ONE BELIEVES ME BUT ITS NOT THAT BAD TO CHANGE THE HARDEST PART IS PICKING UP THE UNIT BOLTED TO THE TRANSFERCASE AND LINEING IT UP WITH THE ENGINE WHEN INSTALLING ITS A BALANCING ACT ON A REGULAR FLOOR JANK HEHEHE

I would flush and change the filter. It will make a world of a differance. I would bet that will solve the problem.
