Well I got sick of not having a dome light in my YJ when I have not top or the soft top so I though I would tell yall what I did to solve this!
I went to a junkyard and bought a rear view mirror out of a 97 camaro, got the one with the lights and made sure that it is the one that attaches to the windshield and not above it. Had three wires off the back, white orange and black. I conected the black to a clean ground, orange to a constant 12 volt source, and I grounded the white wire through the door trigger (the yellow wire on YJ's that turns the lights on when the door is opened) Tested last night and works perfectly. I am pretty sure this is not new to yall (cause it wasn't for me) but I thought it was a "bright" idea.
I ran the wires along the outside of the windshield gasket and to get them through the dash I took off the dash around the column and snaked the wires through where the VIN #'s are through a hole that secures the dash pad!
Pretty easy!
