Rear diff capacity

So I put a new diff cover on my ford 8.8 tonight, and when I was filling it up realized it was taking more then usual. Then I realized it was because the new diff cover holds more fluid. It usually takes about 3 quarts, and I added a bit more then that and it's still low, should I fill it up like you normally would, by adding it it comes out the fill hole?

Go ahead and fill up... Same thing happened to me with the ARB covers; they held more gear oil than the stockers.

That's what I thought, just wanted to make sure. Plus it's been a long day, and I didn't really trust my judgement.
