Hey there, has anyone heard about these leaf packs from RE? They look like a great product and I am considering getting them due to the added wieght of my tire carrier on my YJ.

what Rubicon Express says:
These springs are designed for spring-over applications. Unique reverse eye allows more positive arch than traditional style, resulting in a better ride and longer life due to the fact that the spring does not need to go into a negative arch to compress. Heavy-duty design minimizes axle wrap yet allows incredible wheel travel. Overall load capacity is increase over stock. Can be used front or rear. When used in a spring-over configuration yields a 7" lift. When mounted in a stock configuration 1.5" of lift is achieved. This is absolutely the best spring we have ever used for a spring-over!

They sell them as a 5 leaf and a 6 leaf. Any thoughts? Thanks

Those are the springs I am going with when I do my SOA. I know of two YJs running them and they love them, pretty flexy and ride well. Apparently they hold up to abuse very well too.

i would not trust that it travels well... for a spring to hold an arch, it must be able to withstand being flexed... its simple.. if gravity doesn't do it... then leverage will have a hard time doing it... i would go with stock style springs and save the money

I've never really paid any attention to them, but that is one sweet mofo of a spring if you are loking for a 1.5" lift . It's probably the same spring as their 2.5" but with the reversed eyes. You get the increased springrate of the more heavily arched spring which will fight the springwrap associated with a SOA but at a lower lift height, and it lasts longer because it takes more to compress it to the point that it reverses, which weakens the spring.

But.....why not just go with the 2.5" and enjoy that extra inch of lift?

Well I don't know how much more I can go up without altering my driveline. I dont' want to buy another driveshaft, I do have a T case drop layin around if the 2.5 inch lift springs. I figured I would get these springs rather than the regular type cause it would probably benefit from it since it was specifically made for an SOA'd jeep. I can always get the extra inch of lift from a set of shackles... yes I still have stock shackles!

Snitty, what makes you think it won't travel well? When you say travel do you mean ride quality or articulation?

for a spring to hold up a jeep, it has to resist flexing... and an arched spring will ALWAYS be stiffer than a flatter spring... if you get the 1.5 regular wrapped eye, it will flex better than the 2.5 reverse eye spring because the "SOA spring" has more arch...
