Problems in second gear.

Ok, so Ive owned this car for only a couple weeks and havent been driving it because it didnt have an inspection sticker. So the past couple days Ive noticed something that concerns me.

Ive noticed that if I downshift into second gear and if Im not generously pressing the accelerator, she starts to putter, or lose power. I havent tried it yet, but it feels like if I didnt press the clutch and goose it, it would cut out on me.

Ive also noticed if Im cruising down the road and I hit a big bump, for the split second my tires lose traction, it also feels like a temporary loss of power.

Anyone heard of anything like this before? Ive got zero mechanical knowledge, but I did take it to the Jeep dealership and had them inspect it before I made the purchase and they said it checked out very, very well. Whats wrong with my Jeep?

I think you need to gather more symptoms on this issue. An 03 TJ will throw dtc's if there's an issue . Even if the issue is intermittent, if the concern pops up in three ignition starts in a row, the dtc will be recorded in the stored mode. Either way, the SES lamp will turn on when this happens. In some occasions when a short to ground occurs on a wiring harness or a loose connection will cause an engine to surge and sometimes will not turn on the ses lamp. Check for loose connections under the hood on the engine wiring harness then check the harness around the engine behind the intake manifold for a possible short from a chaffed wire.

OK, Ill start there.

I sure appreciate it Mikey. You sir, are a wealth of knowledge.
