Hey everyone, I have a coolant leak coming from the upper house area where it goes into the motor, right near the cam I think dont know much about cars its a 92 4.0 inline 6 I tried that stuff that supposed to seal leaks but it only slowed it down. It drips at idle but when you shut it off it pours out for a minute or two, its not running hot thou but I did notice that now my oil pressure is going from a little below 40 at idle to a little under 80 while moving and I lost a little oil but I cant seem to find where it is coming from there is alot of oil residue around the valve cover thats all I can find.

Thermostat housing gasket?. The oil pressure is still normal. Stop leaks is never a fix, just a band aid. If anything else, it would contribute to a poor cooling system circulation issue on the radiator.

Is this a hard gasket to get to and fix? I live in an apartment and I cant really make a mess out in the parking lot. If I took it to a shop how much do you think it should run to fix?

It's not that complicated to do yourself in an apartment parking lot. 2 bolts,2 clamps then remove the t.stat housing and clean off the old gasket on both surface then install the new one and purge the air out of the cooling system and retest for leaks.

Hey everyone thanks for the help, I found out it was my water pump leaking like crazy and it soaked the hell out of my serpentine belt, so me and my brother-in-law fixed it last weekend. Now now leaking and it runs like a champ. It seems to run better now that its fixed could the soaked serpitine belt make it run rough? Since replacing it, it runs so much smoother. Just a question? Thanks again.

funny situation, just replaced my thermostat, and drove 400 miles. no heat ran well. Now, I am having a small leak around the water pump as well...

i drive a 93 6 cyl...
hum.

Yup probably is the water pump, mine leaked all over my serpitine belt and really soaked it so I replaced it, and believe it or not it runs soooooo much smoother now. Good Luck.
