hey guys I have 95 jeep wrangler automatic I took off the skid plate under the transmission (which I have done a few times before) to change the fluid, but this time disaster struck and my transmission and engine fell way down and the engine is shifted and when I attempted to jack it back up it will not go back straight. my drive shaft is pointing towards the right of the vehicle and my engine is crooked. my motor mounts seem intact .......any answers would be greatly appreciated guy

Welcome to Jeepz.com.

Is your Jeep an automatic? On my 2005 automatic there is a place on the driver side of the transmission where the transfer case shifter linkage connects to the body, and allows you to shift into four wheel drive. I imagine that if the transmission and engine were to drop, it would bend / break this linkage, and possibly cause what you're talking about.

Terry, the YJ doesn't use the goofy body-mounted bell crank on the transfer case linkage, it's completely attached to the transfer case.

Tuck1, something is binding and preventing you from jacking the driveline back into position. You may need to use a heavy ratchet strap to pull the driveline to the side as you raise it.

I'd be surprised if you didn't tear a motor mount.

Yeah you really have to be careful because the skid plate is basically holding the transmission and t-case up. I recently dropped my skid plate and used a transmission jack for the same fear that just dropping the skid plate on its own would wreck my jeeps world.

Hey Tuck1 , hope you are making out alright , never would want to hear a member is in distress personally beside the rig itself !!

I once had my driveline shift on my 92 XJ with the crossmember off for a mount swap and shaft lube when the floor jack sank into the dirt even with a small plywood square under it . The advantages of working in your driveway on dirt between two cement drive pads. I too have done many jobs on many cars there (if my driveway could talk, stories it could tell ) but when you have to do an emergency hulk hogan and upright the floor jack again trying to center the trans to put the mount back up and salvage all ten fingers , you might want to ask yourself , should I have asked for help ? We always brave it alone , pride runs deep , but please reassess your plan of attack and you will get 'er done . By now , you probably already did , I hope !
Just caught your post now and it jarred my memory of my misadventure . Post when you can , hope the worst is only a stressed motor mount as I respect Bounty_Hunter's assessment . Really hope ALL is well , not even a busted mount ! Go easy bro. .
