Only getting 13 gallons out of 15 gallon tank

Hey guys, I am only getting 13 gallons out of my 15 gallon tank. Why is that?

You need to do modify that tank to hold 20 Gallons. It's easy to do and I'm sure somebody will post a link soon. If not I'll look it up and post one. I did it and it's great (and free)!!!

I have that website, thanks TwistedCopper. But, why am I only getting 13 gallons out?

Oh yeah, I forgot to answer your actual question, that tank has a reserve, probably around 2 gallons, which means it holds 15 gallons, but appears empty after about 13. If you actually run out of gas, it should take about 14.5 gal or so to fill it up.

Either that or you have a big Dent in it.

Mine does the same thing and it will flat run dead at 13.2 gal. Trust me..... :lol:

I haven't been inside mine yet but suspect someone else has and screwed up the pick up tube. Or the reserve part of the pick up is clogged.(Do they have that?LiIke a motorcycle tank??) If so, I never knew. I have to replace mine anyway so I can ad a in tank fuel pump. My external is loud and drives my crazy.

loud is good... but an internal is safe from the elements, and is much more reliable... just not as easy to replace

the gas tank mod is really easy only takes 20 mins and a few scraped knuckles. my yj now holds 19.9 gallons
