RE: Chat Room Active (if only by one)

I did press it on down to the lip on the axle, press the bearing retainer to the bearing and installed the axle with no shims, could that be the problem?

Unless you bought a kit like the one from Superior that doesn't require shims, then yes that's your problem.

I bought the Alloy one piece axle kit, and i installed them without shims also. I have not yet had a problem. But they did say to reinstall the shims only if the bearing protruded more than .060" outside of the end of the housing.

Hey what type of shims are you talking about? The instuctions i got said to shim the spacer that sits in the housing, but the only shims that was on my axles was the one that sits on the back of the backplate and the housing.Thankc again for your info and feedback

RE: new to forum, could use advice

yes, those shims. They also said you can grind the spacer that sits in the housing but you need to be precise about it

Yes the shims where on the backing plates from the factory, if not you should not need them axle will be right length. If your bearings are going bad sounds like they are being pressed on at an angle make sure they are straight (machine shop). Good luck
