oil pressure problem

Hi, hope someone can help. I had to change out my oil pressure switch on my '97 Wrangler Sport; it was leaking oil from it. I put a new one in, seemed fine, then I stopped at a light and the gauge bottomed out and light and bell came on. When I accelerated, the pressure came back up. Maybe a bad new switch, it happens. I changed it out again, seemed fine, my manual says as low as 13 to as high as 60 ok. Today, 2 days later, at a light, bottomed out.
It's fine as long as I don't stop too long or am going. What else could it be? My Hanes book doesn't have anything about it. HELP (please)!

Was the pressure gauge working normaly before you changed the "leaking" one? Are you at the proper oil level (not too high or too low on the dip stick)? Did the engine make any noise when you notice the pressure drop when you sit idle as you described? When you say "light" came on which light are you seeing? Am I correctly understanding that you have installed 2 (two) different "new" oil sensors and are experiancing the exact same symptoms?

it sounds like you are heading to a new oil pump, if it turns out your sensors are good

The gauge was working properly. Oil level is good. Oil was blowing back through the sensor, so got a new one. When it started to bottom out at idle, I got another. Same thing. No noise from engine. It's fine. Any ideas?

Ok.... best thing to do at this time is to check the pressure with a mechanical gauge. Hook one up at the port where the sensor is and observe the "actual" pressure readings at various RPM's. If the pressures are good it is either the sensors you have are not correct or the dash gauge is acting up.(check the wires for cracks/wear)
If the pressures are not up to par then it may be time to check the oil pump system.
