OD Problem

My 03 Grand Cherokee transmission shifts smoothly but won't shift into OD. The OD light on the dash can be turned off and on by the selector button on the shift, but nothing happens.

The light turns on and off when you push the button just the trans doesn't ever shift into od?

Correct. I had not previously changed the fluid and filter, so I did that. The transmission works correctly otherwise.

Check the electrical connectors to the TCM coming from the transmission. It's also possible that you might have issues with the governor pressure sensor/ solenoid and or the overdrive pressure transducer sensor.

X2 yeah the connection was my first thought, could be as simple as that, hopefully it is lol
