O2 sensors

I want to cut off my cat and all the exhaust pipe behind it and put new pipe in because it is rusting out but I dont know what I should do about my O2 sensor. I was told if i disconnect it my check engine light will come on and thats it. What should I do with it?

I'd weld in new spots for the 02 sensor to go on your new pipe. Your rig will run much better with them functioning properly.

If you just rip them out, Your computer will not know if it's running too rich, too lean, or if there's any other problems going on...all of which the computer knows from the 02 sensors.
