Hello 1987yj,

Web articles describing the "Nutter Bypass" abound, but here is a hyper-link to an article that explains the "whys" and 'hows" of the Nutter Bypass.

http://www.off-road.com/jeep/jnutter1.htm

NB: The author wrote the article with CJs in mind. He stated (paragraph 3) that he did not know if the technique was applicable to the YJ Jeep models. I too must plead ignorance on that score.

If the above article does not suffice, a Google search on "Nutter Bypass" will turn up several hits on the topic.

I hope this proves helpful.

how to.... go muddin (or wheelin... whatever you call it)

The nutter works great. But it won't eliminate your vac lines.

I have the same jeep you do, just rebuilt the motor. and did the nutter thing, as well as the TFI, I also gutted it as far as the vac lines are concerned, **leave the advance though, and be sure to plug every port you pull. Mine like yours runs better than it did with them.
I know I could have just replaced all of them, and the various diaphrams and splits etc, but after realizing how tedious a job it would have been, I decided F#!K that!!
--Tedious because all those lines and air hoses have specific inner diameters, and i beleive even
lengths(not sure on the lengths bit) You cant just go to NAPA and get 6' of hose and begin replacing them with a knife and matching old hose.

hope that helps in one way or another.

BTW--I happen to live in New Hampshire where there are close to zero emissions laws, and no emissions testing.
