NP231 4x4 Indicator Switch Replacement

When I switch into 4x4 the dash light doesn't come on anymore. I have confirmed it is going into 4x4, and I can make the light come on by disconnecting the harness at the switch and jumping the harness terminals. Looks like the switch is bad. Is this as easy as unscrewing the old switch and screwing in the new? I haven't found a diagram of the internals to confirm. Is it common for these to go bad? Seems like there isn't much to them to fail.

What year and model jeep?

How were you able to confirm 4wd?

Sorry, 2000 XJ. 4wd confirmed with all 4 wheels off the ground, put it in drive to allow the rear wheels to rotate, shifted into 4wd and confirmed the fronts began to spin as well.

Yes sir its that easy. plug and play. just make sure the electrical connector is secured properly to the switch.
