I am getting the SOA lift shortly on my 83 CJ7, but my jeep needs new shocks as well. What kind of shocks do yall recommend?

I usually recommend Doetshc-Tech 3000's for a good hydraulic shock, can be bought through www.rubiconexpress.com who are great to work with. Hydro's from www.rustysoffroad.com are good to.

But then again, parts-store cheapies for $15 each also get the job done, especially if you think you may change the suspension again down the road.

Learn the difference between a hydraulic shock and a gas-charged (Nitrogen) shock. The hydraulic shocks generally ride smoother and cost less, and the Nitrogen's are performance shocks that are better suited to bumps at speed, like Baja type woops, not what most jeepers do. There are others here who know more detail about the differences, but that's what I've found to be generally true.

I've got Skyjacker Nitro's (cuz they were free and they fit my lift) that ride stiff as a board. I've had Skyjacker Hydro's in the past and they were soft.

What kind of shock will fit the SOA lift it has 5 1/2 in of lift>

You'll have to take measurements after the lift, or call a company that is familiar with the shock length for that lift, and hope it matches yours.

When measuring, you want to measure the extended and compressed length for each shock. You'll have to manually flex the axles for this.
