New Rifle

Congrats, it's a great firearm and a great cartridge, you'll love it

Yeah you get a scope and Leverlution ammo and you'll really be able to reach out and touch someone; that big 450 only has 2 inches of drop at 200 yds with the Leverlution. I swapped my 450 awhile back for the convenience of running 454 in revolver and lever, but I still miss that 450.

After shooting the rifle and feeling the recoil, I'm not sure a scope is a good idea. But I may put one on it. The only rounds I have fired are Hornady 350 grain and they appear to drop dramatically after 200 yards. I'll have to try the Hornady leverlutions.

Yeah they loose their heat at about 200 yards, you pick up about a foot of drop or more in between 200 and 300 yards

What scope and mounts would either of you recommend for this rifle? I was thinking along the lines of a red dot.

I wouldn't do the red dot, it's really just an aiming device.

Since your effective range is going to be under 200 yards you can get a really nice 4 power for under $50

secondly, a shorter scope wouldn't make the rifle look funny and give you the right eye relief for that kind of kick

I'd suggest spending a little cash on a higher end scope just because the hammering they take with the 450 can trash a cheap one in a real short time

I do like tasco I have a Tasco world class 3*9*50 on a 22-250 excellent accuracy. So probably a Tasco or leupold.
