I'm done with the jeep

Well this week I was all up in the Junk Yard "local salvage yard" and was looking for anything cheap to do some upgrades and repairs on ol Tugly! Bought a new shifter boot out of a Mini van for 5 bucks. Dealer wanted $60.40 for an orginal replacement for a 79 CJ. Can you believe that nonsence. I also found a Plymouth Voyager with pretty nice set of seat. They wanted $50.00 talked em into a trade for my ol carter POS carb and $10.00. Paid $5.00 for 4 pieces of 1/8" x 3" x 18 3/4" pieces of metal to build adapters. Took about an hour to install em building the adapters as I went. The improvement in the ride is great. The orginal style low backs were so worn out and slick. Now I have these nice setting grocery getter seats. hehehehe! Now over the last couple of weeks I have gotten the jeep to run like a top. Man it is not the same ol Jeep I bought way back in summer. New carb, New 3 row radiator, New seats, New shifter boot, New batery hold downs, New spare tire, New heater core, New Blazer up grade Blower motor, New hoses, New thermostat, New belts, New breaks, New plugs wires rotor button and cap. There is a ton of other items up getting fixed up with little or no money involved. Now that I have the new seats and it is running I plan to start in and get the interior all fixed up. I find this hard to believe but at this point if I were offered a title for title trade to get my ol YJ Jezabell back I would have to think long and hard before I would trade. After I get some suspension and tires on Tugly there would be no way I would. Never thought I would ever say that. tug

Minivan seats eh? Aren't those a little big to fit in the CJ? Never been a voyager so I don't know what they look like. Are they power seats?

They are about 3 inches wider and fit real nice. Not power or anything like that just basic non adjusting seats. Do not even fold forward they are just good strong built well setting seats will have to add a pic or two. tug

If they're anything like the seats in the other minivans I've been in, they sound very comfortable....it would be good when hittin all the bumps off road.

Well this is what they look like in a Jeep! Notice the Chain Drive Window Crank System! hehehehehe tug

What color would you call that..."Razz-berry"? Looks comfy enough for a road trip.

Nope I call it Better than what I had Red! hehehehe Tug

Glad the seats are comfy, but man o man they sure are red! You sure you didn't steal them from Santa's sleigh??? Sorry, Tug, I couldn't help myself!

Ho Ho Ho very funny you all! They are red anit no dought about that. Goes good with the Camo don't you think? Contras is the key in any decorateing job. hehehe But you know they do set good and I am sure some where down the line I will be able to find some nice seat covers in maybe a pasley or even Yellow Pleather or something to accent the look I am going after. jeeeez tug

I bet those will smell nice when you get them wet... you need some shag rug on the floors and dash to match though! :D

Nice seats tug, they look very comfy, Still prefer the mustang seats that recline though for about the same price, but yours look like they will take alot of that pounding of jeep seats away, looks good. 8) 8)

i just put some new seats in mine the other day too. its soooooo much nicer. mine are out of a 03 neon and i got them for $20 at a car show swap meet. they set up a few inches taller than the originals but they are 100x s more comfy than what was in it. now i just need some wet okle seat covers and im set with my new corbeau seat belts.

bell housing & clutch part compatability question

did the neon seats bolt right up or did you have to make up some brackets? tug

THe best deal I ever got on used parts was a pair of Land Rover Discovery seats for 50 bones. They are tan leather buckets with manual lumbar, recline and sliders. Plus they have these nifty grab handle sides that you can run your shoulder harnesses through. Been in there for three years worth of comfy stump jumping.
