So I'm looking at buying a 2000 jeep wrangler sport. I6 4.0. Five speed. Only thing is the jeep has 237,000 miles on it. Do jeeps usually last 300,000 miles no problems? Just wondering if I should go for it or keep looking. The guy is along $6,000 and it's in great shape. Any info would be great.

Jeeps can go forever, I have no experience with high mileage but we have one member, Robert (who hopefully comments and straightens my rough estimate out) who has a jeep he call VEX and it has enough mileage to have driven around the world I wanna say 8 times. its somewhere in the 2 millions or something.

I really don't know to much about this though...

Often, the folks with many hundreds of thousands of miles on their vehicles have replaced significant components along the way.

I'd be less concerned with the hard mechanical parts like pistons and rods, and more concerned about soft parts like wiring, connectors, computers, and sensors. Problems with those components can be very difficult to diagnose and expensive to replace if you can find them.

get him to come down on the price a couple thousand, or keep looking. i saw a cherokee when i was looking to buy a vehicle that had 435,000 miles on the original drive train, but he was only asking 1000 or so for it.

Well I would be traded the guy for a car that I only have a $1000 bucks into. So putting a little money in the jeep would be ok for me. What things should I be looking out for on a jeep with this many miles on it?
