The heater has Nothing to do with the A/C unless it is a Heat Pump system, which it is not. So it should consist of a heater Core (many coils) which the hot engine coolant passes through. If the heater isn't working, either there is air trapped in the core (flush the cooling system) or the temparature blend door isn't working properly (adjust linkage). If the heater works but not well, in addition to the above you may be running a thermostat that is opening too soon.

The heat does not work unless the it has been running for awhile. My heat won't kick in until the jeep has been running for at least 15 minutes.[addsig]

If you turn on the switch your fan will blow, if it is on. It will not produce any heat until your engine is up to temperature. 8-) [addsig]

I know this is an issue on post 95 explorers, but maybe the cure will apply to jeeps as well. When the engin has been running for about 5 min. fee the heater hoses, are they warm or cold?

If they are cold, the heater core is fine, something wrong with the pump. Drain the system and use compressed air to clear out.

If the hoses are warm, the issue is with the heater core. Also use compressed air to clear out.

Don't go throwing a full blast of air through the system, just little blows!
