I have a 1990 wrangler. It has a 2.5 liter 4 cylinder. Funds are very limited. I want a bigger engine and dont want to have to do a lot of transmission work. Anybody have any information that can help me? I am new to this whole engine swap thing.

Best thing to do is look for a rolled YJ with a 6 cyl and take the engine and transmission. You'll need the brain also for the 6 cyl. Any other way is going to cost a bit. You would need to get really friendly with Advanced Adapters. Most of the conversion bell housings to put in an 8 cyl. will run you at least $300 to start just for the bell housing. You could run easily a bill of $2500 to put an 8 cyl into your truck. Let me know if you have any other questions we do a few swaps at our shop.

2500 isnt that much. I would like to put a chevy 350 in I just dont know what I have to do. Will it match with my stock transmission? Is there any swap that you would recommend that would be easy? I dont want to switch to much unless I really really really have to. and thanks for your feedback and assistance.

The best way is forget about your current transmission. Start with a good combination. If you like the 350 go for it also find a 700R4 transmission or a turbo 400 both are automatic and can handle a 350 your transmission wouldn't make it to long. Try to find a match that is in a 4wd truck already that way you don't need to change the tail shaft of the transmission, and only need an adapter to the transfer case. Then you will need to modify your drive shafts to make it all work together. You can call me with any other questions if you would like @ 315-697-6211 mon-fri 9-6 est.
