My jeep is giving me a headache. Today it starting to make a pinging sound. Seems like it is coming from the engine. I checked the fluids and the oil and transmission fluid is good to go.but I found a tiny leak under the engine. Is there a way to temporary seal this leak. I only want It to last until Weekend. So I can change the gasket myself.

Any advice? Thanks for your time.

Welcome to the Z.

You can try a can of Bars Stop Leak, see if it helps. That's the only way I know.

Try a quart of ATF in the engine oil if the noise is a lifter tick. An exhaust leak is common on that engine, that'll give a pinging sound as well. The exhaust manifold commonly cracks causing an exhaust tick.

What type of fluid was leaking out? If you're not sure, then let us know what color it was.

If it's oil or transmission fluid, you can just keep an eye on it and top it off, but if it's antifreeze or brake fluid then you may not be able to wait.

Do you know which gasket is leaking?

Thanks for the reply. I think you might be right. The check engine light is on and is pulling two codes. One reads small exhaust leak and other is a large exhaust leak. I have taken it to an exhaust shop and they could not find an issue. But if it's the manifold how can I make sure that is the issue before I pay to get it changed?

Thanks for the reply. The leak is light brown in color so I believe that it's oil. It coming from the unit located after the oil drain plug. Not sure if it's the transfer case or what. My jeep is all wheel drive. Not sure if that will "ping" or not.

Mine started pinging lately, come to find out our 89oct gas has been changed to 87oct. I can't find 89oct so jumped to 91-93oct it stopped and it runs a lot better should of been using it the whole time.
