friday i was downtown so i locked my doors and when i came back i put my key in and the alarm started going off. usually, if this happens, i can lock my doors and unlock the driver door with the key and it will stop. didnt work. everytime i put my key in the ignition the alarm keeps it from starting. i had it towed, and now its just sitting in my driveway until i can find a solution. any help would be appreciated. thank you.

p.s. my jeep is a '94 grand cherokee limited straight six

pull the battery terminals for 15 minutes and allow the comp to rest.

Sorry no other suggestions here, Talked to a friend and he said try six or seven times (locking and unlocking the drivers door). He also said the stealership wouldnt tell him how to by-pass the alarm eith, just to bring it in and they will fix it.

There is a little POS plastic thing that attaches to the back of the door lock. It makes a connection and shuts off the factory alarm. They break and fall off, so you can't turn off the alarm. There is supposed to be one in the passenger door also. Try unlocking your passenger door and see if it shuts the alarm off. The alarm sets by hitting the power locks and leaving the vehicle sit for a few minutes. I used to have to lock mine by hand if I wanted to enter the drivers door.

Try the unlocking the liftgate. Books says that either front doors or the Liftgate will disarm, sounds to me the 2 front switches are broke so try that. will read a little more on it to see what more the manual says. It also says unplugging the battery will not work because it saves what state it was in before the battery was unplugged or died.

the door lock switches are mounted on the back of the key lock cylinder it says that they can not be repaired and if not working or faulty must be replaced. here is the photo from the book.

no im going to try and get my factory alarm disabled or removed, whichever seems more effective.. ideas and price range well appreciated... thank you

Yet another reason why I hate car alarms.

Go down to the other side of the tracks, that part of town with all the seedy looking characters sitting around, and offer one of'em $20 to disable your alarm system. They'll be done in about 15 seconds, and it'll only cost you $20.

(NOTE: You may want to blindfold them before you take them to your vehicle, so they don't know where to get a Jeep that already has the alarm disabled! )

When I had a similar problem, I was told by a guy who claimed to work on jeeps (don't hold me to it) that their is a wire in the drivers side door that is yellow with a purple stripe....if you cut the wire and ground the end coming from the engine direction...it will disable the alarm system. I haven't tried it, because my stinker will reset if I take off the batter cables for 3 min and then use the key to unlock the drivers side door.....all starts working again.

I just wish someone could tell me which wire controls the power windows...or what strange alarm is it that goes off in a high pitched whine from my glove box everytime I open a door now...but goes off in about 10 to 15 seconds, or when I shut the door.

You guys should both either go to the dealership and ask for a copy of the fuses layout or better yet go find a Haynes manual, it's got schematics in the back. Bu by all means matchup the broken wire ends and solder them back together. They're in a tight bundle so you'll want to find liquid electrical tape to keep thing from shorting out. Getting the roll to go through the wires to get a good wrap is impossible.

Directions on removing VTSS from vehilce... Start vehicle, let run for 2 minutes and then disconnect the VTSS module and leave running for 2 minutes. Turn vehicle off and leave VTSS module unplugged. Then restart vehicle and PCM will not recognize theft

VTA module is Located in the left rear area of the glove box... Removal of the center bezel, dash pad and right side bezel are required.

i have the exact same problem with mines , i had to find out myself when i couldn't get it to stop cause the previous owner never mentioned anything about it until after i called asking why it wouldn't shut off  i just unlock it from the passenger door like mentioned above , but if it didn't work , then looks like some surgery might be in order :D ... scalpel

one quick suggestion, take he alarm out. Not hard just cut a few wires.
