Mold

Well my buddy was checking out my carpet on the passenger side floor and he noticed something funky. I had a small mushroom growing and there was a little bit of mold. Same day I went to work and cleaned out my jeep and pulled most of the carpet. Some of the carpet was wet so I think the the mold came from that. It rained a bunch here last week all days for 2 days and my back window was off. Anyways I think I am going to rhino the whole inside know and ditch the carpet for good. But for now I need the mold gone from the front floor board carpet. For the last couple days I have taken the top off and left it out in the sun baking trying to kill the mold. Any other ideas of how to get rid of it?

If you're not concerned about how your carpet looks, about the only thing that will work well is a 10% bleach solution. It will probably leave spots in your carpet, though. Aside from that, the only other thing to do is to replace the carpet completely (or just get rid of it).

Well, then, if you're getting rid of the carpet completely, use a 50% bleach solution on it. Half water and half bleach will kill almost anything!! Sorry, I misunderstood your post and thought you were keeping part of the carpet.....

Well, if your taking the carpet out anyway, why don't you just take it out? I don't run carpet in my YJ.

Mold, mushrooms. Yuck. Unhealthy stuff there.

Yeah that's what I was thinking, just yank it and rhino line it when you get a chance. You can always get a set of cheap rubber floormats for the interim.

And don't forget the little pine tree for the mirror!

Ya know, Sully, you have another option or two. Depending on the type of mushroom, you could make some side cash for mods. If they're Morrells, those are a hot ticket item here and go for big bucks. Just park it in the garage out of the sunlight, and harvest them. If they're the kind of mushroom I used to...errr, umm...my friends used to eat in high school, those also go for a premium, but the market is harder to find.

change the ph of your carpet. vinegar wont discolor but will make the carpet too acidic to grow. spray it down good, i mean soak it, and shop vac it, letter dry out.

i too went the sprayed tub route (duraliner) keep in mind if you have any electrical equip (stereo CB etc) ran other than under the dash, youre gonna become good friends with the flex loom

Vinegar, what a great idea!!! Never woulda thought of that! And, personally, I prefer that smell (whatever's left) to that of mold.

 good suggestion, tint_rookie!
