Losing all power

I have a 87" YJ Wrangler, and I am having some problems. I will be driving down the road and I will lose all power. Everything just cuts completely off. Happens at 10 mph and 60 mph, any RPM. I have to pop the clutch and get it restarted......Any ideas, the mechanic I took it to couldnt fiigure it out, doesnt say much for him.....any suggestions. Appreciate any advise.

Only at 10mph and 60mph?

Hm, maybe an electrical short happening somewhere? Perhaps your alternator is giving up. This one is a toughy lol. Hope this helps.

Is it the electrical system shutting down or just the engine dying with the electrical still on?

If everything goes dead,engine and electrical.I would start with checking the battery terminals,grounds and the alternator.

My yj would power down/sputter, I would restart or rev high to clear it. turned out to be an O2 sensor
