hey, i'm chops from boston. i signed up for the site because i am interested in purchasing a wrangler soon. i'm looking at the 2000-2003 range for high four or low five figures. if any one wants to help a dude out and let me know if there're any years to avoid, or other pitfalls, i'd really appreciate it! thanks and i'm excited about joining the jeepz community.

There's really no big issues on the year 00-03 models on a TJ to speak of. All i could recommend is to make sure all the recalls has been completed. This could be checked thru your vin# from a dealer or a Chrysler employee. Some 05 models with the 4.0 liter I6 have been found with an oil pump gear drive issues but has been resolved with the customers involved after a build and Vin# check. Try to stay with the I6 over the 4cyl. You might regret getting the 4 banger if you intend to go with larger tires later. I don't mind the 4 cyl. but it has it's limits on performance if your looking for some umph under the hood. Welcome to Jeepz.com..
