lift or not

I have a 1998 Jeep Cherokee 6 cylinder 4 by 4 4 door. a friend of mine is giving me a set of 31 inch tires that I plan on putting on the Jeep. do I need to do a 2 inch lift kit on this or can I get by with new leaf springs and maybe some spacers in the front? not looking for a real radical look just looking for a little bit more clearance for the beach for fishing and for the winter time. any advice would be a great help thank you

You'll need at least a 3" lift to clear those tires. Most use a 4.5" lift for that tire size but you might be able to get by with 3" since you're not taking it off-road.
