I have 1996 Jeep Cherokee country that needs upper control arms replaced , cause the old ones have busted out the bushings and even broken the metal in the rear left side of the upper control arm , I have attempted to install new upper control arm on left side of jeep but find I can't get bolt hole to line up if anyone can offer any help to getting bolt holes to line up ,I would appreciate it

I realize your going through enough anguish right now , but if everything else is still bolted up , I.E. , the lower arms , shocks , stabilizer links , track bar , steering linkage on pitman arm , this causes the axle to rotate in an arc causing misalignment . Try disconnecting front driveshaft to see if you can roll the axle a little while on the floor jack to realign the upper arms to the axle to get the bolts back in . Hopefully this will work for you without further disassembly . I did my front springs on my '92 XJ several years ago and wished I did it on a flat surface , not an up hill driveway . Hope this helps . Please be careful . The book calls for all to be disconnected except lower arms .

I use large ratchet straps between the axle and chassis to pull the axle where it needs to be for the holes to line up. You can also put a large pipe wrench on one end of the axle and twist it slightly if it's close to lining up.
