Today I am finally putting in a kill switch, I have only done this in my 67 mustang before... and the setup on the YJs 4.0 is a little different. The coil doesn't have 2 wires going into it like I thought it would. So I saw a wire harness coming off the distributor, I disconnected it, and the jeep didn't start. Reconnected it, started up... there are 2 white and 1 black (which I assume is the hot). I was going to splice into the black wire but I decided to look at my Chiltons before I started. The book says that this harness is the "camshaft position sensor harness". Can I splice into this? Will it hurt the engine at all? It will work, I tried it, but will this hurt me more than help me in the long run.
If anyone has another place I can splice into on the 91 4.0, please let me know. I'm still learning about these engines! Thanks
Never mind, I made the right choice. It was the black wire and now that I am doing it I remember back to my mustang... it wasn't off the coil at all it was off the distributor just like this only instead of a harness it was to nuts holding the 2 wires... Thanks anyway, now I just gotta mount the switch and I'm done!
