i was looking at a kennebell supercharger since im fixing to get a new jeep and i was wondering how hard they are to maintain. I've heard bad things about superchargers. That if you dont keep them in tip top condition they will tear up on you in a heartbeat. I dont know anyone who has a supercharger but i was just wondering about it.

try the avenger website for some more info. i have no personal experience with super chargers on jeep motors tho. all i know is that avenger makes em for the 4.0 L engines.

yeah... they add to the badass factor... but personally... too much money and too touchy... i'd rather swap a good v8

Make sure the unit you get has to be tapped into you oiling system. Some brands that have self contained oiling systems tend to fail for the daily drive cause they rarely check the oil level, so the bearings go dry and sieze.

Side Steps?????

I think Vortech makes a charger for the 4.0 and I'm pretty sure Hesco makes one too.
Snitty is right though, you could put in a fuel injected V8 for what the supercharger will cost. There is no substitute for cubic inches.

Or just stroke the factory 4.0l, its relatively cheap alternative to swapping out the entire engine/transmission combo, though wont provide you with the same power a v-8 will. A super charger is generally more reliable than a turbo kit, but you will still want to consider upgrading other parts of your engine for strength purposes, depending on the amount of boost you would run.
