so I just got my xj together and im wondering if anyone else has into the same problem as me? it drives but has low power / torque

Welcome to JEEPZ.com. Sounds like you've got a vacuum leak from the intake manifold . Your losing power and the idle is being stepped up by the pcm to compensate for low vacuum. Check the intake manifold torque and if you suspect any leak(s) from the intake you can try to,spray choke cleaner at the intake where it bolts to the cylinder head to see if the engine races . That should confirm a vacuum leak. Check to see if the manifold is properly seated to the cylinder head . Do this before you attempt to re-torque the mounting bolts.
