JK vs. TJ wheel lug pattern

I recently bought a set of wheels and tires off a stock JK. I was intending on putting them on my 2003 TJ, but found out Jeep changed the lug pattern in the JK models. That’s what I get for not doing my homework and making an impulsive buy. Does anyone know about changing the brake rotors? Can it be done… swapping ’08 rotors for ’03 rotors? Should I just sell them and cut my losses?

Nope, you cannot swap the JK rotors to the TJ . TJ's bolt pattern is 5 on 4.5" while the JK's are 5 on 5.25.

Changing the rotors does not change the lug pattern, the lug pattern can only be changed by swapping out unit bearing assemblies, if they were even compatible.

The easiest solution would be to buy a pair of JK Rubicon d44 axles from Mopar Performance.

You could try a spacer.some offer different bolt pattrens which would fix your problem but then push your tire out further and put more stress on the steering.

if you do adapters... Locktite is your friend!

What is the downside to the adapters? Any long-term vehicle damage? If anybody has run these adapters, let me know your thoughts.

I run 1" wheel spacers, the same width as most adapters. The only downside is slightly more stress (leverage) on wheel bearings and balljoints, but no more than wheels with an inch less backspacing. Just be sure to loctite the lugs on the spacer/adapter.

I have them on my rig and no downside for me really, just make sure you check them every 500 miles or so.
