jeep return?????

RE: I got a spare 4.0 sittin around

Well last Friday was supposed to be the day that i got my Jeep back out of the shop. But not, the mechanic couldn't finish dropping the motor in and of course they dont work on weekends so Monday was the new day for my Jeep. Well Moday rolls around and guess what, the mechanic is "sick". HMMMMM????The Superbowl was Sunday and Monday he's sick???So anyways, he manages to straggle in on Tuesday and I was sure I'd get it back but somehow there manages to be another problem. The computer is not fried and they had to order a new one. Well I had just recently had that computer rebuilt so now Im supposed to be up and running by luch time today. Im trying not to have my hopes up. Anyways, to make a long story short im not taking my jeeo back to those guys.

Nothing ever goes as planned when it comes to automotive repairs. :? Hope you get it back today.

RE: Polar Bears

Hang in there, accidentprone. When I had the motor put in my old Toy, it was supposed to take a week. It took them 8 weeks!!!!!!!!!! Then, they didn't get the head gasket sealed right, and I was 200 miles from home when it blew, overheated the motor and warped the heads. I took it back to them for warranty, and they wouldn't pay for it because the warranty was void if the engine overheated....DUH!! They're the ones that caused it to overheat with their poor work!!! I took them to court over it, but by the time the trial came up, they had filed bankruptcy and gone out of business, so the case was thrown out. Ended up costing me nearly $4500 just to get the engine fixed (including the cost of the original install), not including 4 months of rental cars. A friend had recommended them to me, or I wouldn't have used them in the first place. Next time I need a motor, I don't care what the cost is, I'm going to a well-known, reputable business for it.

Ah, but just think how great it will be to finally have your baby back home again!

Doing an engine removal and replacement is rewarding work. No doubt, it's WORK, but very rewarding knowing that you did it. Just an idea the next time one poops out on you.

The shop that did the engine in my Ranger prerunner MADE me let them do it. They wouldn't give me ANY warranty unless they did the whole job. I wouldn't have used them, but they were supposed to be the best around at the time and since they were already getting $2500 of my money for a four cylinder rebuild, I figured a little more screwing me was acceptable. They are the same guys that got $981 to do all the NON WARRANTIED work on the cylinder heads on my CJ7......quality work, but hard guys to deal with.
